Live results from the June 21 runoff in Forsyth County


Who is in the second round?

In Forsyth County, three local Republican races are part of the runoff.

US House District 6 between Rich McCormick and Jake Evans. The winner will face Democrat Bob Christian in November.

  • At 8:25 p.m., McCormick leads Evans with about 71.4% of the vote to 28.6% with about 15,000 votes counted. In Forsyth County, McCormick leads 73.7% to 26.4%, with some 1,900 votes counted.

House District 24 between incumbent Rep. Sheri Gilligan and Carter Barrett. The winner will face Democrat Sydney Walker.

  • As of 8:25 p.m., Barrett received approximately 61.1% of the total votes to Gilligan’s 38.9%. All of the district’s voters live in Forsyth County.

State House District 28 between Brent Cox and Julie Tressler. The winner will face Democrat Claudia Wood.

  • As of 8:25 p.m., Cox leads with 50.6% of the vote to Tressler’s 49.4% with some 2,000 votes counted. In Forsyth, Cox leads 51.1% to 48.9% with some 1,800 votes counted.

Local Democrats will also have several statewide races on the runoff ballot:

Lieutenant Governor between Charlie Bailey and Kwanza Hall. The winner will face Republican Burt Jones.

  • Statewide, Bailey has a 61.88% lead to Hall’s 38.2%. In Forsyth, Baliey won 78.5% of the 860 ballots counted as of 8:25 p.m.

Secretary of State between Dee Dawkins-Haigler and Bee Nguyen. The winner will face Republican incumbent Brad Raffensperger.

  • Several media outlets have already declared Nguyen the winner. Nguyen currently holds about 77% of the vote, including 91.6% in Forsyth County.

Insurance Commissioner between Raphael Baker and Janice Laws Robinson. The winner will face Republican incumbent John King.

  • Robinson currently leads with about 64.5% of the vote to Baker’s 35.5% as more than 110,000 votes have been counted statewide. With 820 votes counted so far in Forsyth County, Robinson has about 76% of the total.

Labor Commissioner between William “Will” Boddie, Jr. and Nicole Horn. The winner will face Republican Bruce Thompson.

  • Boddie, Jr. leads with 64.5% to Horn’s 35.5% with more than 111,000 votes counted. The race is closest in Forsyth County, where Boddie, Jr. leads 54.1% to 45.9% with about 840 votes counted.

Residents who voted Republican or Democrat during the May 24 general and nonpartisan primary elections could only vote for that party’s candidates in the runoff. Those who did not vote in the primary or voted nonpartisan could choose runoff ballots for either party.

Whats Next

With the parties’ candidates decided, voters will head to the polls for the November 8 General Election.

In Forsyth County, there will be multiple federal, state, and local contests for the upcoming election.

United States House District 6representing all of Forsyth and Dawson counties and parts of Cherokee, Cobb, Fulton and Gwinnett counties.

State Senate District 27which represents the majority of Forsyth County and no other county.

State Senate District 48representing a portion of southern Forsyth County and portions of Fulton and Gwinnett counties.

State House District 11representing northwestern Forsyth County, Pickens County, and a portion of Hall County.

State House District 24, which represents a portion of western Forsyth County. This district will not represent any other county.

State House District 25representing portions of southern Forsyth and Fulton counties.
