Lions Gate Bridge closed for counterflow system upgrade on weekend nights

The Lions Gate Bridge will be closed to all traffic overnight this weekend.

The bridge will be closed from late evening until early morning in both directions from the night of Friday, April 29, until the early hours of Monday, May 2, so upgrades can be done on the counterflow system, including a new electrical system and testing .

Both the bridge and Stanley Park Causeway will be inaccessible to all but emergency vehicles and late-night buses when the SeaBus isn’t operating.

The exact hours of the closures are:

• Friday, April 29, from 10 p.m. to Saturday, April 30, 8 a.m.

• Saturday, April 30, from 8 pm to Sunday, May 1, 5 am

• Sunday, May 1, from 8 pm to Monday, May 2, 5 am

During the day, the bridge and causeway will be open to traffic, while the east sidewalk on the bridge will stay open for pedestrians and bicycles throughout.
