Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) received a 911 call just after 6:30 am for a balcony fire on the fourth floor of a building near 53 Avenue and 199 Street, spokeswoman Brittany Eveneshen told Postmedia.

Fire crews arrived within five minutes of the call and found smoke on the scene before evacuating the building, Eveneshen said, noting that EFRS received no reported injuries connected to the incident. The fire did not extend into the building and was limited to the patio and soffits, Eveneshen added.

Fire crews declared the fire out at 9 am and fire investigators are looking into the case.
