A child is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle late Sunday afternoon in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts in the Laurentians.

The accident occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Payment Road.
According to the first information, the child would have found himself on the way while he was sliding on the snow from his land. At the same time, a vehicle traveling there reportedly hit him.
“The young victim was transported to the Saint-Jérôme hospital center for serious injuries that would put his life in danger,” said agent Catherine Bouchard, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
The driver of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries.
An investigation has been opened to understand the circumstances surrounding this accident.
