How much does the automotive industry contribute in Mexico, the US and Canada?

The automotive section has been the target of major trade disputes despite negotiations by the three partners of the T-MEC due to the important weight of the industry in the three economies.

In Mexico this sector contributes 3.9% to the total national GDP and employs about 950,000 people. Additionally, it produces a value of 123,000 million dollars in exports, which makes it one of the three main generators of foreign exchange along with remittances and tourism.
