The head of Government of the Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, called on the councilors of the National Electoral Institute to reconsider the decision to postpone the consultation on revocation of mandate.
“That they recover the revocation of the mandate for the time it was raised,” he said. Sheinbaum Brown this Monday during the press conference of CDMX government.
Last Friday the General Council of the OTHER decided to suspend the holding of the recall consultation on President Andres Manuel López Obrador, scheduled for April 10, 2022, until the electoral body has a sufficient budget to organize the exercise.
The head of Government assured that the reason given by the INE for suspending the exercise is only a pretext, and criticized that the Institute has not carried out an “austerity program in accordance with the times of the country.”
He called on the councilors to make an internal austerity program, to stop traveling and using “so ostentatious” vehicles.
“(The INE) receives many billions of pesos and we believe that with this resource that it has, it can be adequately distributed to be able to carry out this mandate revocation consultation,” he said.
He stressed that the consultation on the revocation of the mandate is already a constitutional provision, “it is not a matter that they can determine yes or no,” he said.
Claudia Sheinbaum said that based on the vote of the councilors it can be seen that “they do not agree with the revocation of mandate, but it is not a matter of whether they agree or not, it is a matter that is constitutional and must be done, “he said.
The president of the capital assured that sufficient signatures were also delivered to carry out the consultation.
