The unidentified 24-year-old motorist turned himself into investigators Friday, three days after Dale Lylyk, 38, was struck while crossing Hillcrest Avenue and Clearbrook Road in Abbotsford at 11:59 pm on April 26.
The driver fled the scene, police say.
Lylyk’s mother, Michele, made a public appeal on Thursday to the driver involved in the late-night collision to come forward.
“I do not know what would have caused you to leave a person that you hit with a vehicle unattended without needed medical help,” she posted to Facebook.
“I can only hope you will come forward and realize the impact your negligent actions have had on him and his family.”

“He’s stable but on life support,” said his mother. “These should n’t be words a parent hears about her child from her.”
While the investigation remains active, no charges were laid, as of Friday.
“Investigators continue to follow the evidence; investigations of this nature take time to complete,” said Const. Paul Walker, who mentioned investigators have located the vehicle involved in the crash.
