The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has reported an additional 43 cases of COVID-19 and two more deaths from COVID.

A 50-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman, both living in the general community, have lost their lives as a result of the disease. Their deaths bring the number of local deaths from the pandemic to 456.
Since the health unit offices were closed on Thursday for National Truth and Reconciliation Day, Thursday’s count of 43 cases was also reported on Friday.
To date, 19,742 local residents have tested positive for COVID, including 297 active cases and 18,989 cases considered resolved.

Twenty-two people who tested positive are hospitalized.
There are outbreaks in 15 workplaces, two long-term care and nursing homes, two community settings, and five schools.
So far, 83.2 percent of area residents ages 12 and older have received at least one COVID-19 injection, and 77.2 percent are fully vaccinated.
