A 72-year-old man experienced a night of horror last week on a beach in Marseille, various French media report.
Around 4 a.m. last Wednesday, the septuagenarian was attacked with a shovel by a 24-year-old who seemed to be in a daze, according to Provence. The attacker filmed the particularly violent scene, which he then published on the social network Snapchat.
The eldest was found on the beach, seriously injured. He was taken to hospital where doctors confirmed that he had suffered four fractures and that it will take him at least three months to recover from this attack.
The police quickly managed to identify and arrest the alleged attacker. Another 19-year-old man, who was allegedly present at the crime scene, was also apprehended.
Both will appear on Tuesday for charges of armed violence and dissemination of the recording of images relating to the commission of a willful attack on the integrity of a person.
