The grass will be equally green on both sides of the fence this year, as paint maker after paint maker reveals some shade variation as their 2022 Color of the Year (COTY). The only nonconformist completely broke ranks by selecting a red-pink .
The star of Benjamin Moore’s color palette is October fog, “ a softly shaded sage, ”the mark is likened to a flower stalk. Like other paint manufacturers, the paint giant was influenced by a pandemic that forced many to live, work and learn at home.
“As the spaces in our homes continue to evolve, we discover more opportunities to express our individuality and harness the power of color to design environments that serve different functions and styles,” says director of color development and marketing Andrea Magno. Behr Paint Company is Breezeway, a silver green shade with cool undertones that “evokes feelings of freshness and peace while representing the desire to move on and discover new passions,” says the brand.

The color experts at Valspar by Sherwin-Williams, meanwhile, forecast a color palette that includes Bleached thyme , a natural green. The Valspar 2022 color palette also includes Delightful Moon, a warm yellow, Lilac Lane from the purple family, Mountain River, a deep dark blue, Subtle Peach, a simple pastel, and Rustic Oak, a warm shade reminiscent of copper.
