WHY WATCH? Just to see who is on the ice for the Senators

The Senators had to cancel their skate Monday in Tampa because of an illness running through the team. The hope is the club will have enough health players to suit up against the Bolts and if not the Senators may need the NHL to make a roster exemption. You can only carry 23 players and if the Senators need more than another player from Belleville the NHL will have to help out.

THREE THINGS ABOUT THE BOLTS

The Bolts are coming off a 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators in front of 68,000 people Saturday night at Nissan Stadium in the Music City. It’s not easy to go into a stadium and beat the home team but Tampa did a good job. Goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 26-of-28 shots as he picked up his league-leading 28th win of the season.

Lightning captain Steven Stamkos was named the NHL’s third star of the week Monday after finishing with 2-2-4 in two games this week. He scored the winner and had two assists in the club’s win in Nashville. The club’s leading scorer is ranked 11th in NHL scoring with 16 goals and 59 points. He also had a goal in the club’s 5-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers last week.

The Bolts have won four straight and have one regulation loss in their last eight with a 6-1-1 record in that stretch. The Senators have a 1-2-0 record against Tampa this season. We’ll have to see who’s healthy enough to play in net but Matt Murray has a 3-3-1 lifetime record vs. the Bolts in seven career games with a 2.87 goals-against average and a .905 save-percentage.
