THE BATTLE CONTINUES

You can expect to see more movement on the roster on Saturday morning because the Senators are not only battling COVID-19, but they also have injuries after Artem Zub left Thursday’s 2-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. We’ll have to literally see who’s on and off the ice when we get to skate on Saturday to see what this list will look like. If the club is to compete, Tim Stuetzle has to break his streak of 13 games without scoring. That must start now because this club has an offensive challenge.

THREE THINGS ABOUT PENGUINS

1. The penguins won’t have Captain Sidney Crosby for this one. Although he has rejoined the team after testing positive for COVID-19, he has yet to return to the lineup and may not be able to cross the border with the Penguins. The club did not skate Friday at Pittsburgh, so Crosby’s status was unclear, but it appears the club will have to wait for him to return to the lineup.

2. Pittsburgh activated defenders Marcus Pettersson and Chad Ruhdwedel from the COVID-19 protocol list on Thursday, but then had to make emergency withdrawals before traveling to Ottawa on Friday. None were allowed to cross the border due to the government’s 14-day quarantine rule. That meant the club withdrew blue player Juuso Riikola from its AHL farm team in Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

3. You can expect to see goalie Casey DeSmith in this one against the Senators. The Penguins sent starter Tristan Jarry directly to Washington to prepare to face the Capitals on Sunday night at 7 pm The club called Louis Domingue from their minor league affiliate to dress as a substitute in Ottawa. The Penguins are coming off a 3-2 shooting win over the Florida Panthers at home.
