Frustration increases when the vaccination test website displays an error message

The first day of the Ontario vaccination passport got off to a rocky start as the website where people can download their proof of vaccination was down.

“Sorry, something went wrong. Sorry for the inconvenience, we are working on it”, was the message that many users received when trying to download a PDF of their vaccination records.

A spokeswoman for Health Minister Christine Elliott said the site was briefly down for routine maintenance and denied that it was blocked due to heavy use. He added that many people had already downloaded their proof of vaccination before the start of the passport system.

“Many Ontarians already have a copy of their receipt from when they were vaccinated or took the time over the past few weeks to download or print their receipt in preparation for today,” said spokeswoman Alexandra Hilkene.

While some users were able to download their logs, many others were not.

A restaurant owner referred to the situation as “a gong show.”

Starting today, Ontario residents must provide proof that they have been vaccinated in order to participate in a wide variety of indoor activities, such as eating and drinking indoors or going to the gym.

An app that people can use to show their proof of vaccination won’t be up until mid-October.
