Agent Joseph Spear, a 22-year-old EPS member, faces two criminal charges in connection with a complaint filed with police in 2020, according to a police statement Tuesday. Spear was alleged to have commissioned an affidavit bearing a forged signature. An internal investigation was initiated by the EPS professional standards branch.

The matter was referred to the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS) when the internal investigation was completed. ACPS recommended charges are posted.
