The indicators on the use of Catalan have accumulated worrying readings in recent years, although the interpretation of these data is not univocal. They do not indicate, In principle, that the group of Catalans who have Catalan as their identification, family or main language of use regardless of their origin, decreases demographically, has given up the degree of commitment to the language that has allowed their survival in unfavorable circumstances or, above all, what have stopped transmitting it to the following generations, which would lead the Catalan language to the danger of extinction that many consider inexorable without a vigorous response.
