Authorities searching for escaped convict Casey Cole White and former jail chief Vicky White have reportedly discovered a vehicle in Indiana that they believe is linked to the couple’s disappearance.
The US Marshals Service and Evansville authorities are investigating whether the vehicle is the one reported stolen in the Tennessee area where the duo abandoned a 2007 Ford Edge, according to a law enforcement source. i told waay Monday.
Vicky bought the Ford Edge before she and Casey reportedly fled from the Lauderdale County Jail in Alabama on April 29, police said.
But after the alleged escape, he abandoned his original vehicle in College Grove, Tennessee, about two hours north of the jail, police said.
“Because it was abandoned so quickly, they probably had mechanical problems with it. It was dumped practically in the middle of nowhere on the side of a country road where it would obviously draw attention and be found,” Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said Friday.
Singleton previously told The Post that Ford was their main track and once they knew the car had been abandoned, they would go back to square one.
Chad Hunt, commander of the U.S. Marshals’ Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, told The Post they “know” the couple headed north to Tennessee “for a specific reason.” .
Hunt told WAAY that Vicky may be getting help while on the run from former inmates whom she had treated “above average.”
“They had a lot of respect for him. Some of the things we have to take into account [for] and sit back and watch the 17 years of contact with other inmates who are potentially out now,” he told the outlet.
Casey’s former lawyer, Dale Bryant, has said he fears the escaped suspect may attempt suicide with a police officer because he suffers from serious mental illness and addiction problems.
