in a Facebook post, Ezra Wellness in Kamloops says he is looking for support in finding another place to operate.

“If you have or know of any office space available, with compassionate like-minded owners, please let me know so we can land and move forward peacefully,” wrote Glenn Aalderink, a nurse who started the clinic, in the mail.

The mail went on to say that when the provincial government ordered all health workers to be vaccinated, he “went ahead” and created an alternative clinic.

And this is the same. The landlord does not want us, we will go ahead and look for an alternative. And they will suffer from the loss, not us, ”Aalderink said.

The building, located at 552 Tranquille Road, is owned by Brendan Shaw of SRSN Ventures Ltd.

In an email, he said the commercial space is being rented to a long-term tenant who will sublet part of his space to a user-paid medical clinic without the knowledge or permission of the owner.

“Our tenant did not consult with us in advance about the use of this space, so I immediately had a conversation with our tenant because we have a no-sublet clause and this is not an allowed option,” Shaw said.

“With each of our commercial tenants, we have a process that we follow to screen and approve all tenants. Part of that due diligence process is ensuring that all tenants can comply with legal, financial and insurance covenants in the commercial space. Without going through this process and because we do not have a sublease clause in place, we cannot reasonably approve a lease. “

Aalderink, who is a member of the Canadian Frontline Nurses, a controversial group that organized “demonstrations for freedom” against vaccines and masks in hospitals, told the local radio station CHNL last week that the clinic was started on a voluntary basis, but that the plan was to eventually bring in a fee for clients who access their medical and wellness advice.

Messages left for Aalderink requesting an interview have yet to be returned.

In a statement, Interior Health said it does not oversee private clinics that provide medical services and that all clinics must comply with the BC Health Professionals Act.

The health authority said that if the clinics do not comply, it will report the individuals involved to their respective professional regulatory bodies, including the BC College of Nurses and Midwives for nurses and the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons for physicians.

The BC College of Nurses and Midwives recognizes that members of the college participate, organize, or campaign against existing public health orders to deal with COVID-19.

“We want to assure registrants and the public that we are working with our partners in the health care system, including the Ministry of Health, and that we are taking steps to address such reports,” the university said in a statement Tuesday.

The university said it can and will take action against registrants whose use of the degree poses a risk to the public or could discredit the nursing or midwifery profession.

On Monday, BC Provincial Health Official Dr. Bonnie Henry delivered some of her harshest words for unvaccinated health workers.

“If people are in our health care system and they don’t recognize the importance of vaccination, then this is probably not the right profession for them, to be blunt,” he said.

Health Minister Adrian Dix said British Columbia hospitals are postponing some surgeries due to staff shortages created by unvaccinated health workers who have been put on leave without pay.

Dix said that around 3,325 healthcare workers across the province have not been immunized against COVID-19 and are violating the government’s proof of vaccination policy, which took effect last month.
