The number of COVID-19 contaminations has jumped to more than 116,000 cases in France, according to data from Public Health France published on Tuesday, the day after the lifting of most of the health restrictions.
Since Monday, anyone who wants to can access cinemas, theaters, restaurants … without justifying a vaccination pass, and the mask has fallen in shops, schools and places of culture and leisure.
These relief measures had been announced by the French government in early March when the strong and long fifth wave of the epidemic was clearly coming down, but this is no longer the case.
Laboratories have recorded 116,618 positive cases since Monday. The daily seven-day average had risen to more than 60,000 cases since last Friday. It stood at 69,249 on Tuesday.
The number of hospitalized patients is stable (20,919), but that of hospital admissions over seven days is up very slightly. The pressure on the intensive care units continues to drop slightly, with 1,783 patients.
The disease claimed 146 people in 24 hours in hospitals, for a total death toll of 140,440 in France since the start of the pandemic more than two years ago.
Vaccination is stagnating, with 80.5% of the total population having received at least one dose of vaccine.
The government has also decided to open the fourth dose of the vaccine now to people over 80.
The mask remains compulsory in transport and health establishments and companies can always decide to impose it on their employees.
