Construction in the US: the sector with the most remittances to Mexico

The remittances, money transfers from abroad to the country, are one of the three main sources of foreign exchange in Mexico along with the automotive industry and tourism.

These transfers from abroad are made mainly by Mexicans residing in the United States. According to figures from the Census Bureau, 20.9% of Mexicans in that country are employed in the construction sector, which makes it the main economic generator of migrants and the main source of remittances that enter Mexico.
