Londoners could be spinning the ice as early as this weekend with preparations underway for three of the community’s outdoor ice rinks to be ready for the holiday season.

City staff say work is underway to open the Storybook Gardens skating rink and the Victoria Park skating rink on Saturday. Rotary Rink at Covent Garden Market is expected to open the following weekend, December 11.

“Londoners continue to receive the vaccine and follow public health guidelines, making this announcement another indicator of the reward for everyone’s diligence and hard work,” says Mayor Ed Holder.

“Our concern for safety remains a priority, but we are excited to bring another holiday staple for Londoners to enjoy.”

Residents are also asked to wait for space if the track is too busy or to return at another time.

The free outdoor ice skating at Victoria Park will be open daily from 10 am to 10 pm, weather permitting, and will be closed daily from 5:30 to 6:30 pm for ice renewal.

The Storybook Gardens Outdoor Winter Skating Trail cuts through the park’s beautiful grounds, offering a unique skating experience in town, and is open Tuesday through Sunday this winter, weather permitting.
