CHSLD Vigi de Gatineau: a questionable meal for a 103-year-old resident

Residents of Gatineau deplore the quality of the meals that were served to their father at CHSLD Vigi in Gatineau.

Leo Lyrette’s daughters took a photo of one of the meals served after their father complained.

The image, posted on social media, quickly spread.

The meal, a simple piece of fish with some sauce, shocked Mr Lyrette’s daughters, who say it’s not the first time this kind of meal has been served, but it was the time too much.

They agreed to denounce the situation openly so that things change for their father, but also for the other residents of the establishment.

The Minister responsible for Seniors, Marguerite Blais, is not happy with the situation. She recalled that the CAQ invested $100 million and mandated the ITHQ to improve the quality of the meals.

“Our people who reside in our establishments have the right to eat healthy food,” she said.

The Council for the protection of the sick deplores these conditions, but says it is not surprised.

Vigi management met with the Lyrette family on Thursday to try to rectify the situation.

Contacted by TVA Gatineau-Ottawa, Vigi Santé was unable to explain the reason why these dishes are served to residents.

By e-mail, the establishment mentions that the quality of the meals is regularly evaluated and that in the event that residents are dissatisfied, they can contact the CISSS’s Quality and Complaints Commissioner. of the Outaouais.
