Caxxor formalizes interest in Durango-Pacific railroad

Caxxor Group reported that last Monday it delivered to the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) the expression of interest to invest and develop the Durango-Pacífico railway line, which is part of the T-MEC Corridor project (which involves a total investment of 3,300 million dollars) under the Public Private Associations Law (APP).

“The demonstration is presented in November 2021 in the best conditions, once the feasibility thesis that concluded last March has been verified. This once worked on alternatives to generate savings in the development of the 360 km of track required for this corridor and in the cost of the port that makes the design more efficient. From April 2021 to November of this year, work is being done on the development of basic railway engineering and on a port patent that could set a new port standard in terms of costs and efficiency ”, informed the director of Caxxor, Carlos Ortiz.

Their interest in the logistics project is supported by the figure of unsolicited proposal (PNS), raised by the referred law, which in its regulations refers: the federal agency or entity to which the request for expression of interest is submitted must answer in a period of no more than thirty business days, counted from the day following the date of receipt of said request.

Although it is clarified that it does not imply any commitment, or antecedent on the opinion regarding the proposal that is presented in due course.

Once the PNS has been approved, if applicable, and when the SICT has all the technical information, it may launch the respective tender in which the promoting firm will participate.

If it is not a winner, it would be entitled to receive from the chosen company or consortium compensation related to the investment of the studies carried out.

First the way

Although the T-MEC Corridor includes a new port about 90 km from Mazatlán and industrial parks “that form a transformation corridor in what has been conceived as a project that will change world trade”, in a first stage the group has been focused on the railway system.

“Regarding the characteristics of the railway project, it runs through the states of Sinaloa and Durango and provides for the transfer of cargo connecting the new Sinaloa SIPORT port with the main production centers in the north of the country and the east coast of the region. The purpose of the train is to carry containerized cargo, which once the project reaches its maturity may reach up to 8,000 TEUS per day (approximately 2.9 million per year), from the port of Dimas-Sinaloa to Durango ”, it was explained.

The proposed train is 250 double-stake wagons for 4 TEUS (50 tons per wagon) for a total load weight of 12,500 tons and 1,000 TEUS. The design speed in sections 1,3 and 4 is 80 km / hour and that of section 2 is 60km per hour h since it is the section in which Caxxor engineers continue to work to improve the slope.

The journey is estimated to take five hours and the transport capacity of this road is 1.6 million containers in its first stage.
