Canaco de Puebla expects a 15% rise in sales during the first half of May


Puebla, Pue. The National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Kanaco Servitur) expects an increase of up to 15% in sales due to the influx of tourism as a result of the Puebla Fair, the parade on May 5, as well as the celebrations of Mother’s Day and Teacher’s Day, which It will help alleviate payroll payments and operating expenses.

Marco Antonio Prósperi Calderón, president of the organization, considered that the month of May will be positive for the sector, although it will take them this year to see a more tangible economic recovery and reach sales figures that existed before the pandemic.

He indicated that businesses are not yet in a position to hire more personnel, but they do hope that it can happen after the second semester, depending on the activity and that inflation does not continue to rise because it has a “domino effect.”

He commented that the sector would see better sales until next August with the start of the school year in person, because families will acquire school supplies, footwear and uniforms for their children.

The leader pointed out that they remain in a panorama of uncertainty, but they are not in the red either, because there is more consumption that involves service providers.

He said that before the pandemic, better sales began to be seen in March or with the Easter holidays, but now it is May, when there is a slight increase.

Prósperi Calderón commented that the sector, with 7,000 members, has promoted the consumption of local products, including gastronomic products, handicrafts, as well as tourist sites that offered discounts and promotions.

He commented that more than two years after the pandemic, there are businesses that are doing better, which is why the promotion of the local market, which should be part of a government strategy.

He indicated that the businesses of the Canaco together with those of other business organizations are organized to promote themselves together, so that the people of Puebla turn to them for purchases or services.
