The Calgary University District celebrated all things winter at Northwestival on Sunday, marking the fourth annual event at Northwest Commons Park.
Northwestival featured live music by the Alberta band The Royal Foundry, food and drinks, a market, 30-foot-tall igloo tents, and plenty of activities for kids, including inflatable ax throwing.
Maureen Henderson, vice president of community experience at the University of Calgary Property Group, said the outdoor festival is about “warming up for winter.”

“We are all in favor of the colder season. That’s the idea of living in a winter city like Calgary and obviously wanting everyone to go out and enjoy themselves, regardless, ”he explained.
“There are many ways to warm up for the winter, and this is just one of them.”
