Bystanders help stop suspected jewel thief at Dartmouth’s Mic Mac Mall – Halifax | The Canadian News

Halifax Regional Police have charged a man with robbery after a piece of jewelery was stolen from a diamond shop at Mic Mac Mall.

Police say they responded to the Dartmouth shopping center at 10:25 a.m. Wednesday.

A man is alleged to have walked into Crescent Gold and Diamond, broken a display case and taken a piece of jewelery.

“The man bumped into a store employee who tried to stop him and fled into the mall,” police wrote in a statement.

“Two bystanders and shopping center security officers detained the man until police arrived and arrested him.”

Alexander Kenneth Pritchett, 27, is on trial for robbery and possession of property for less than $ 5,000.

He is also facing additional charges of theft under $ 5,000 and possession of property acquired through crime under $ 5,000 in connection with another theft from August 2020 in Dartmouth.
