Bellas Artes, in Mexico, the most affordable iconic theater in the world

The Palacio de Bellas Artes, located in the heart of Mexico City, is home to the most affordable iconic theater in the world, according to research by money.co.uk, a UK-based entity that focuses on comparing prices to support personal finances.

In the ranking of the most affordable iconic theaters in the world, the first place is held by one of the most beautiful architectural constructions in Mexico, with more than a century of life, which stands on Avenida Juárez and Eje Central.

The document made by Salman Haqqi called World’s most loved theaters (the most loved theaters in the world) confirms that of the 50 best scenic venues in the world, the most affordable to see a show is the Palace of Fine Arts.

As a research methodology, the price of the next ten shows of each venue was averaged, which in the case of the Mexican venue is around 106 pesos (4.31 pounds sterling). “The Palace of Fine Arts hosts music, dance, theater and opera events and is one of the most important cultural centers in Mexico,” says the study.

Other iconic theaters

Money’s research reports that the second cheapest theater is the Amazon Theater in Manaus, Brazil, with an average ticket price of just 4.50 pounds sterling (111 Mexican pesos). “As its name implies, this theater is located right in the heart of the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. The theater is over 120 years old and was built during the city’s rubber boom,” he details.

In third place were two theaters, Teatro Colón and Shakespeare’s Globe, with an average ticket price of 5 pounds sterling (123 pesos).

“The Teatro Colón is located in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and has been named among the top ten opera houses in the world by National Geographic. It also allegedly has the best operatic acoustics in the world and underwent an extensive renovation in the late 2000s after falling into decline,” according to Haqqi.

The most affordable theater outside of the Americas is Shakespeare’s Globe. “The theater is a reconstruction of the original Globe, for which William Shakespeare wrote his plays, located on the south bank of the Thames in London. The original theater was destroyed by fire in 1613 before its initial replacement was demolished in 1644, and this modern version opened in 1997.

the most expensive

By contrast, the five most expensive theaters in the ranking are the Fox Theater in Detroit and the Radio Hall City Music in New York, in the United States; La Fenice in Venice, in Italy, the Paradis Latin in Paris, in France, and the Sydney Opera House in Australia, whose tickets range between 49 and 92 pounds sterling (1,210 and 2,283 Mexican pesos).
