Avoid downtown driving Friday due to truck rally, Winnipeg police say – Winnipeg | The Canadian News

Winnipeg police are urging residents to avoid downtown Friday, if possible, as preparations are underway for a rally by Manitoba lawmakers.

Staff at the legislative building are also advised to work from home.

The rally, in support of the truck drivers in Ottawa, is expected to begin at 9 a.m. and will disrupt traffic in downtown Winnipeg.

Police said they were working with the organizers of the event to ensure the protest remained peaceful.
