A silent courtship that has been ongoing for two years has resulted in a public-private partnership that will be the first of its kind in Canada.

Invest WindsorEssex officials will release details of the partnership Wednesday in the official announcement at St. Clair College, which also includes Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens and Essex / Tecumseh County Mayor Gary McNamara.
The partnership, which includes a foreign company, will create a unique ecosystem partnership and production facility that will focus on leveraging a space-proven model of electric vehicles that has proven successful globally.
The flexible production concept is expected to enhance local efforts to establish the region as the automotive capital of the nation. In the past five years, the area has received $ 12.5 million from the federal government and $ 2.5 million from the province strictly earmarked to further Windsor’s automotive ambitions.
