ATV swerve: a teenager loses his life

A 15-year-old teenager lost his life Monday evening in an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) swerve in Notre-Dame-de-Stanbridge, in the Eastern Townships.

At around 7:30 p.m., two teenagers having fun on private land on an ATV lost control of it and were ejected. The passenger in the back seat was seriously injured when the vehicle overturned on top of him.

When the police arrived, he was conscious and even talked to them. However, he succumbed to his injuries in a hospital center later in the evening, said Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

The driver reportedly suffered only minor injuries that did not require ambulance transport.

A reconstructionist and a collision investigator went to the scene to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
