The president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, stated this Friday that “trust with the State Government is broken, it is at zero” and that if the latter “wants to rebuild it, it is essential to act with transparency and assume responsibilities” for the case of the political espionage.
Speaking to Catalunya Ràdio, Aragonès said that the management of the espionage issue “not only does it not improve as the days go by, but it gets worse”, and has insisted on considering it “absolutely essential that the judicial authorization be declassified”, which yesterday it transpired that it existed, to act before some of the people spied on, including himself.
“I demand to know which magistrate authorized it and to be able to know the reasons that lead to spying on a political official” because “in a democracy the leaders of other parties are not spied on,” he stressed, along the same lines as his Thursday statement.
In his opinion, what happened generates “a situation of defenselessness”, and he has wondered that, if three years ago he was spied on when he was vice president and in a context of general elections that ERC won in Catalonia, who could assure him that today he would not they keep doing.
“These are questions that remain in the air,” he added, “and as long as there are no answers, we are in a situation of deteriorating relations in a way that has not occurred for a long time.”
Sánchez also in the Cercle
Aragonès explained that a meeting between the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and himself is not planned today, although both will coincide in the conference organized by the Cercle d’Economia in Barcelona. “It is not a question of a photo or a fleeting meeting of a few minutes”, he has specified, before admitting, however, that he asked for a meeting days ago and that he is waiting for it to take place.
Regarding his request that the Government assume responsibilities, the President of the Generalitat has reiterated his opinion that the Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, “is unable to continue in her position”, as head of the CNI, since this body depends on her ministry.
According to what has transpired from yesterday’s meeting in the official secrets commission of Congress “we know -he said- that the CNI can act uncontrollably, and it is evident that measures have to be taken, because nowhere in the world do the security services intelligence act on their own”.
“There are sewers of the State that move better in areas of opacity”, lamented the Catalan president, before emphasizing that, in the current context of broken trust, The possibility that ERC guarantees the stability of the Government in Congress is “moved away”.
“We will analyze case by case -he indicated-, because there are those who try to make us forget what is happening with social or economic proposals, but we will always decide with the citizens of Catalonia in mind”.

On the dialogue table between governments, Aragonès has confirmed that she has been frozen, but that this does not mean that she has disappeared: “There are many who wanted to leave her for dead for everything that happens, but they will not expel me from the search for a negotiated solution”.
