Apple TV bets on telling the story of the greats of fashion


‘The New Look’ is the title of the new exclusive series of Manzana and which, set in Nazi-occupied Paris during World War II, will narrate the history of greats fashion like Coco Chanel or Christian Dior.

The series narrates the end of Coco Chanel’s reign as the most famous designer in the world and the unstoppable rise of Diorwith its iconic and revolutionary style that will help bring beauty back to the world and influence generations to come, says Apple TV + in a statement.

‘The New Look’ is produced by Apple Studios and written, produced and directed by Todd A. Kessler (‘Bloodline’; ‘Damages’, ‘Damages’, ‘The Sopranos’), with Emmy winner Ben Mendelsohn ( ‘Rogue One’, ‘Bloodline’) and Oscar winner Juliette Binoche (‘The English Patient’, ‘Chocolat’) as leads.

Inspired by true events and filmed entirely in Paris, ‘The New Look’ is a thriller set in World War II that focuses on the pivotal moment in the 20th century when Paris put the world back on track thanks to its icons of Fashion. Above all of them stood out Christian Dior (played by Mendelsohn), whose creations dominated world fashion in the decade after World War II.

The series will weave together the surprising stories of Dior’s contemporaries and rivals: “grande dame” Coco Chanel (played by Binoche), Balmain, Balenciaga, Givenchy, Pierre Cardin and Yves Saint-Laurent, among others.

From Apple Studios, ‘The New Look’ will be the first production from the newly formed partnership of Lorenzo di Bonaventura (‘Transformers,’ ‘Salt’) and Todd A. Kessler. Mark A. Baker (‘Bloodline’, ‘The Night Of’, ‘Daños y Prejuicios’) will also serve as producer.
