Apple has surprised at its event California streaming. The company has been punctual and at 7:00 p.m. in Spain it has begun its broadcast, however it has done so by renewing a family of devices that was not expected today: the iPad. The tablets have been accompanied by the Apple Watch Series 7, as well as the iPhone 13, the most anticipated of the night.
The new iPhone 13s maintain the design of the previous generation and the differences are subtle in appearance: a smaller notch and larger cameras. However, the great news is inside: better cameras with larger sensors that allow to capture more light, more battery and a new recording mode.
For its part, the new Apple Watch has been redesigned to have a larger and more resistant screen, however, it maintains its curved appearance that has made it stand out from the competition. And more importantly, despite changing the size, it is still compatible with all straps of the old generations.
With regard to tablets, the company has unveiled a completely redesigned new iPad mini with an appearance reminiscent of the iPad Air and iPad Pro. For its part, it has also presented the ninth generation of the iPad, its cheapest tablet, which maintains its design but gains power and camera for video conferencing.
Apple has not forgotten about the services either and has presented news with Apple Fitness +. Its virtual exercise platform now arrives in Spain and does so by integrating new workouts such as Pilates or skiing.
iPhone 13 y iPhone 13 Pro
The stars of the night have been the new iPhone. Apple has repeated the four differentiations that arrived last year, thus announcing the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, with 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch, 6.1-inch and 6-inch screens, 7 inches and with a price that starts at 809, 909, 1,159 and 1,259 euros for the 128 GB versions, respectively.
On an aesthetic level, they inherit the design of the previous generation and their great novelties are internal: it has a larger battery, a more powerful processor and better photographic and video capabilities than ever. Of course, the camera is once again the differential factor of the Pro models with respect to the iPhone 13 and 13 mini, although this time the screen is another factor to take into account.
The four models have inside the new Apple A15 Bionic chip. A true beast that once again puts Apple at the forefront in terms of processing and mobile performance. It uses five-nanometer technology and has nearly 15 billion transistors to handle the most demanding tasks, including the latest computer photography capabilities. In addition, the new 16-core Neural Engine is capable of 15.8 trillion operations per second and offers even faster machine learning computing. for new third-party app experiences.
Although the new phones have been internally redesigned to make room for a larger battery, this comes with the higher efficiency of the A15 Bionic. In summary, the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro Max have 2.5 hours of autonomy more than the previous generation, while the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 Pro have 1.5 hours of autonomy more.
However, the real leap in quality on the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro is in their cameras. The two most affordable models gain one of the star features of the iPhone 12 Pro Max: OIS sensor shift technology reaches the wide angle that now also has a larger sensor with 1.7 µm pixels, which allows 47% to pass more light.
Apple Watch Series 7
The Apple Watch Series 7 has been one of the protagonists of the afternoon and one of the most anticipated redesigns. Now, the new generation of Apple’s smartwatch has a wider screen thanks to thinner edges without hardly modifying the dimensions of the watch so that the straps of previous generations will continue to be worth.
Specifically, the screen is 20% larger than in the Apple Watch Series 6 thanks to narrowing the edges by 40%, and maintains the characteristic of having the panel always on although now it has 70% more brightness, with what looks better.
The larger screen allows for a better optimized interface capable of displaying more information at a glance. In this way, in watchOS 8, the titles of the menus and the buttons of apps such as Stopwatch, Activity and Alarms are larger, making it even easier to interact with the screen.
It is also the strongest Watch to date. The new redesign allows it to have a stronger and more robust geometry that makes it harder against impacts, as well as a glass that covers the panel 50% thicker. It has IP6X certification and WR50 water resistance.
It has also improved the charging and autonomy system. Now its battery has an estimated 18 hours of duration, with what it gives for the whole day without problems, as well as 33% charge than the Watch Series 6. The new watch integrates the usual sensors, however, it comes with new updates for cycling, training capabilities as well as improved fall detection system.
The Apple Watch Series 7 collection has new aluminum cases in five different colors (midnight, star white, green, a new blue and a new (PRODUCT) RED), while the stainless steel models (Apple Watch Edition, Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Series 3) are still available in the same colors as always.
Regarding their availability and price, the only thing that Apple has detailed for the Spanish market is that they will arrive in the fall (as well as globally). But to know the price we will have to wait yet, since it has only revealed that it will start from 399 dollars in the US. Will keep for sale Series 3 (219 euros) and SE (299 euros)
iPad and iPad mini
Of the two iPad models that Apple has presented this afternoon, the iPad mini stands out. The company has completely redesigned it so that its experience is close to that of the most ambitious models in the family. Thus, the ninth-generation iPad is the entry-level tablet and the only one that maintains a design with promising edges and an older look.
The design of a front with reduced edges allows to go to a screen of 8.3 inches (compared to the previous 7.9 inches) but maintain the compact dimensions that characterize the tablet. These reduced edges have also caused the TouchID fingerprint reader to be located on the power button, in the same way that it happens on the iPad Air.
The new screen is not only bigger, but it also looks better. The new iPad mini display features 500 nit brightness, wide color gamut (P3), anti-reflective screen coating, True Tone, and full lamination, now also compatible with the 2nd generation Apple Pencil. , which is magnetically attached to the iPad mini so you can link and charge it wirelessly.
But if something is going to characterize the new iPad mini, it is its power. It incorporates the A15 Bionic processor, the same as the new iPhone 13, which also allows autonomy that lasts for the whole day. Apple explains that the new chip provides a 40% improvement in performance, while giving 80% more graphics power compared to the previous generation iPad mini.
The new processor also brings one of the most striking features of the iPad Pro to the iPad mini: Centered Framing. This feature comes to the new 12 megapixel front camera and what it allows is that thanks to artificial intelligence and 122 degrees of vision, the person is always centered on the plane.
With regard to connectivity, the iPad mini has both a 5G connection and a USB-C connection, which allows it to connect to screens in 4K resolution. A more versatile solution for professionals.
For its part, the new ninth-generation iPad has the same appearance as the previous generation, so Apple has not changed its design with respect to the eighth generation, thus maintaining both the 10.2-inch Retina screen , prominent bezels, fingerprint reader, and first-generation Apple Pencil compatibility.
Among the novelties that this new iPad brings is the front camera, which also incorporates this centered recording system with a 12 megapixel camera and the same degree of vision. In this case, the processor is the A13 Bionic, the same as the iPhone 11 Pro.
Another novelty is that now the 10.2-inch screen has True Tone technology that, thanks to the environmental sensor, allows us to better see the images according to the environment we have in the room.
Regarding price and availability. The iPad mini can be reserved from today at a price starting from 549 euros (719 for the version with data connection) from 64 GB of capacity and up to 256 GB. It will be in pink, white, purple and gray and goes on sale on September 24.
Apple Fitness +, in Spain
The only news regarding their services has been regarding Fitness +. Its virtual training ecosystem will arrive in the fall – presumably from the Apple Watch Series 7 – to Spain, as well as to 14 other new markets.
Among the novelties of his training plan that is synchronized with the firm’s devices are guided meditations, Pilates classes or exercises for the new ski season.
In addition, from Apple Fitness + you can train with up to 32 people at the same time, either through a Messages conversation or with a FaceTime video call, as well as artists and training have been integrated to provide more variety to the platform.
Apple has explained that it offers one month for new subscribers, as well as giving three months free to those who buy an Apple Watch, something essential, because to use the service it is necessary to have at least one Apple Watch Series 3 or later with watchOS 7.2.
