The Montreal Alouettes will be without their head coach, Khari Jones, on Saturday against the British Columbia Lions. It is his assistant, André Bolduc, who will take over, and the latter says he is ready to face the music.
Jones was diagnosed positive for COVID-19 on Sunday and he must isolate himself from the rest of the team for a minimum of 10 days.
“The news came as a shock to me,” Jones admitted by videoconference from his home where he is confined. Danny [Maciocia, le directeur général] called me and he informed me. The team confirmed that the team’s players and staff were all tested again on Monday and that no further cases within the group have been detected so far.
Jones, who does not know how he could have been infected despite being twice vaccinated, says he is doing well and adds that he remains in constant contact with the doctors on the team.
Even confined, he continues to be actively involved in the preparation of his team and even followed distance training on Tuesday. He’s not too worried about Saturday’s game.
