The accident happened on Highway 50, near Lachute.
A man in his 60s died after his car collided with a moose in the Laurentians. The accident occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Highway 50 near Lachute.
“On the highway, at that level, there is one lane in each direction,” said Sergent Audrey-Ann Bilodeau, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec. “From the basic information we got, when he hit this big moose, he lost control and ended up in the ditch (on the other side).”
People, including a nurse, tried to resuscitate the man at the scene until paramedics arrived. He was then transferred to a hospital in Lachute, where he was pronounced dead in the following hours.
“The investigation is ongoing,” Bilodeau said.
