Officers tracked down the artwork to an undisclosed location in East Vancouver on Thursday afternoon, said Const. Tania Visiontin.

No arrests have been made, and the department’s property crime unit is investigating. No further details were available, police said.

The 36-kilogram work was installed outside the Vancouver hospital in February. It was stolen in the early hours of April 3. Security footage showed a person removing the statue from its pedestal, lifting it onto a cart and pushing it away.

The work, which is valued at $45,000, was created by artist Marie Khouri and donated to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation for fundraising purposes. It was auctioned off and purchased by a donor who donated the piece back to the hospital.
