YOU SAID IT: Criticism doesn’t help

Here are today’s letters from the Ottawa Sun to the editor.

I am so tired of seeing all the reporters criticizing medical experts. Here’s a news flash … they don’t have a crystal ball. They may not be right all the time, but this is unprecedented, making it absolutely impossible for them to be if the evidence and data change by nanoseconds.

Admittedly, some of the recommendations were a bit out of place (masks won’t help) and maybe sometimes they need to put a different light on that tip, but it’s a bit out of control. Try to be in their position – they are providing life and death advice, and they take the time to do just that to try and help us stay safe in the knowledge that the advice affects life and death, while in reality they have no choice but err on the side of safety. . Nobody knows about this or where it is going; all they can do is the best they can based on the information they have.

This constant criticism is extremely unhelpful, so maybe it’s time to rest. I have to wonder about the press because, in many situations, their questions are more stupid than advice. They ask questions (often ridiculously hypothetical) that only a fortune teller could answer.

WHEN WILL IT END?

My mask and gloves almost fell off when I saw that we are closing everything again for six people in hospitals with COVID. When will this nonsense end? The ski slopes may have to be closed if many break a few bones.

SPEND IN SCHOOLS

Re: May our children enjoy the wonder of Christmas, editorial, December 23

The public needs the help of the media. If you want to make an effort for children, I totally agree. I have five grandchildren. We need the power of the press. Tell the government that instead of billions spent on testing equipment and other waste, the money should be spent on schools.

We demand that schools spare no expense and immediately begin work on all schools in Canada, installing the best ventilation systems. It is better to reserve the contracts yesterday if the work is to be done in the summer.

It is up to you, our voice to demand safe schools. Let’s make children become children again. Money well spent.

NOT MUCH REST

Re: May our children enjoy the wonder of Christmas, editorial, December 23

I read the editorial and thought it was very good, that I had neither pessimism nor pessimism for a change.

After reading it, I thought, “Yeah, let’s wait until tomorrow to see.”

The next day, I read the newspaper and its editorial again.

You wrote on December 23: “Can we do without the endless saying of the self-proclaimed” experts “for a few days? In the next day’s issue, there were six articles related to the” pandemic. “Too much for you,” Time to put one up. pause in the COVID hype. “
