YOU SAID IT: ‘Back’ in the background

Here are today’s letters from the Ottawa Sun to the editor.

‘BACK’ … ON THE REAR BURNER

Canada is “back,” says Trudeau. Your motto should be: “I turn Canada on its back.”

We will not go anywhere because Canadians are resilient and we will survive in spite of him and his elite clique. You are likely to have an internal revolt, as well as resistance from wokesters when they see what’s in it for them.

Surprise, surprise, the real Trudeau has nothing to offer. According to His Highness, you have not decided on 5G because you do not want undue influence from your “old” allies because you believe that it has influence over some description. In fact, the longer it takes, the less relevant your decision becomes.

In the meantime, our allies will continue to exclude Canada from other international decisions. Don’t worry, China will be there to help Trudeau through tough times. I don’t recall a prime minister who was more useless than Trudeau, except Campbell. She had an excuse while he didn’t. You may need a little time off. Wow, it does, another six weeks. I wonder if we’ll see his shadow when he pokes his head out of his cabin.

INACTIVE DEGREE

Re: Teachers skip math test; Mandatory test declared unconstitutional, December 22

The cited court ruling establishes that “racialized students benefit from being taught by racialized teachers.”

Strange, I should have thought that “racialized students”, like all students, would benefit most from good teachers, who are fully qualified to the highest standards. Isn’t the court thus implying that racialized students are somehow less able to benefit from such teachers?

So this would appear to be a well meaning (generous) but demeaning and insulting comment. These days, it seems the courts have been far more concerned with social engineering than legislation or common sense.

As an additional observation, the teacher used as an anecdotal example of bias, he stated that his problem was with the “pedagogical part”, which “is a lot of memory work”. Considering that he is said to have a bachelor’s and two master’s degrees, I can’t help but wonder why some memory jobs would pose a problem for him.

MELNYK SPOT IN

Re: Turin’g the page; After Hasek was injured at the 2006 Olympics, Sens owner Eugene Melnyk is no longer a fan of the players involved, on December 23.

Senators owner Eugene Melnyk is correct about his take on NHL players participating in the Olympics. In 2006, the injury of Ottawa goalkeeper Dominik Hasek in Italy nullified any chance of the Sens taking home Lord Stanley.

Owners like Melnyk pay the freight for these athletes and succumbing to serious injury outside of their regular league duties is not correct. It is time to abolish these Games, they are prohibitively expensive, completely political, and they are no longer useful altogether.

ARE YOU CRAZY?

Are you going to China? Are you crazy? Have Canadians not learned their lesson? At its whim, China can illegally imprison anyone. The imprisonment of the two Michael’s unequivocally demonstrated this fact. Now, do you still want to visit China for any reason?
