Women in Finance | Passion for humans and numbers

Their professional career and their leadership being in full swing, Delphine Coiteux, Natacha Laflamme and Virginie Séguin-Dalpé are the 2024 finalists for the Rising Star prize which will be awarded by the Association of Women in Finance of Quebec on May 9. Lightning discussions with three stars in their field who have all placed people at the heart of their practice.

Delphine Coiteux

If you had told Delphine Coiteux 11 years ago that she would work in insurance, she would have laughed. Passionate about theatrical improvisation, having studied at CEGEP in communications “without maths”, she explains, she was not predestined for it at all. It was with the sole aim of observing office life that she joined Aon during her first year of undergraduate studies. There she discovered a world full of human connections, and a future. Today she does what she is passionate about: transmitting knowledge, directing, supporting, advising, negotiating. And this, by being completely herself. “I can be funny and loose at times, then super business at others. But they let me be. » The arts – first and foremost improv – are still an integral part of his life. “Improv makes me disconnect, and when I come back to more serious things, the slightly crazy side is well nourished. » She also serves voluntarily on the board of directors of the Théâtre de l’Œil Ouvert, where she enjoys developing good governance practices as much as supporting a cultural organization. For the future, she would like to deal with the more strategic and political workings of the negotiations.

Natacha Laflamme is a 2024 finalist for the Rising Star prize awarded by the Association of Women in Finance of Quebec.

While doing an internship at the Lévis Chamber of Commerce after her studies in sales, Natacha Laflamme discovered that the word finance could rhyme with multiple possibilities. And that she could, above all, support a human in his concerns. After more than 19 years at Desjardins, she still takes great pleasure in sharing the learning acquired throughout her career and in putting her expertise combining coaching, sales and mentoring, varied experiences. Having been able to seize opportunities and take risks, she is proud of the perseverance and ability to adapt that she has demonstrated throughout her journey, which was hardly mapped out in advance. Today, his role as a volunteer at the Integrated Cancer Center at the CHU de Québec transcends his professional title in his eyes. After being a caregiver for her mother, she wanted to get involved, giving back through volunteering – a “heart-to-heart helping relationship” that nourishes her deeply. As for the rest of her career, she wants to play an increased role with young leaders and, by helping them develop and achieve, regardless of their background, she hopes to become a vector of change.

Virginie Séguin-Dalpé is a 2024 finalist for the Rising Star prize awarded by the Association of Women in Finance of Quebec.

Virginie Séguin-Dalpé found, in finance, a stimulating world in constant change, at the junction of her two great centers of interest: numbers and people, the latter constituting in her eyes the heart of businesses. It was driven by her passion for technology and innovation that she made the jump last March to the Business Development Bank of Canada, after working for nearly five years at the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. Through perseverance and calculated risks, she finds herself today supporting young startups evolving within the extremely dynamic techno environment, “who want to change things, who ignore the status quo”. Passionate at work and in her leisure time, devouring texts and podcasts on emerging technological companies and fuel for sport, she considers it essential, to achieve balance, to find passions outside of work. His love of sport certainly gives him the energy to perform at the office. Looking to the future, she hopes that in finance, women will increasingly contribute to investment decisions and that they will continue to help each other in collegiality, so that others can enjoy, like her, of a network of inspiring allies to better rise.
