Winter Weather Advisory Issued When Parts of Ontario Will See First Snowfall | The Canadian News

Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory Saturday afternoon for parts of southern Ontario.

According to a statement released by Environment Canada, the snowfall is expected to begin Sunday morning and continue throughout the day. It is expected to end on Sunday night.

At 2 p.m. Saturday, the advisory was issued for areas including the city of Toronto, the Peel region, the York region, the Durham region, Sarnia, Windsor-Essex and Kingston.

The city of Hamilton also received a notice. However, you could experience snowfall in two waves and the first wave would start on Saturday night.

These areas could see between two and five centimeters of snow.

However, Environment Canada said some areas could see increased amounts of snowfall accumulation due to easterly winds on Lake Ontario.

Because this is the first snow of the season in many cities, Environment Canada advises drivers to be vigilant as roads can become slippery.

“If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Surfaces such as roads, paths, walkways and parking lots can become icy and slippery, ”the statement read.
