Windsor police said their Major Crimes Unit began the investigation last month.

At the time of the alleged incidents, the defendant was employed by the independent school board.

The allegations involve the defendant touching students inappropriately. Police said five children, all under 16 at the time, have come forward to investigators.

As a result of the investigation, the suspect was arrested on Thursday.

Aram Raihana, 34, of Windsor, faces five counts of sexual assault and five counts of sexual interference.

Under the Criminal Code of Canada, the offense of sexual interference is the direct or indirect touching for sexual purposes of any part of the body of a person under 16 years of age.

The Major Crimes Unit believes that there is a possibility that there may be more complainants in relation to the accused. According to police, the defendant has “other ties” to the Windsor-Essex region “where he is in a position of trust and authority with the children.”

Anyone with information about other incidents is encouraged to contact investigators at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830.
