Dr. Fouad Tayfour and Dr. Barry Emara made a donation of $250,000 for the launch of the Taylor-Emara Research and Education Fund, hospital representatives announced Wednesday.

“Leadership in health care requires more than excellence in clinical care alone,” Dr. Tayfour said in a statement. “Our donation will provide essential funding to kickstart research projects and support the next generation of medical leaders.

“Windsor-Essex deserves to have first-class specialists right here in our community.”

The doctors hope the fund will help attract top clinicians to conduct their research in Windsor and Essex County. With better research comes improved patient care, putting the region on the map for its medical care and quality of physicians, officials said.

“The Windsor-Essex region is home to world-class experts in almost every medical specialty,” said Dr. Emara. “This initiative will attract top clinicians to conduct cutting-edge research in our community which will make a real difference in the lives of our patients.”

With a renewed focus on research, the fund will help fuel better patient care and attract top doctors to the region.

“Well, the last two years have proven to be quite challenging for everyone in this community and especially in health care,” said Lisa Tayfour from the Tayfour Family Foundation.

“Giving is not just about making a donation, it’s about making a difference, and today, with this donation of $250,000, we are hoping to do just that.”
