Who could stop the energy counter-reform?

It seemed like an immediate reaction from Q4 to the message that the United States ambassador to our country, Ken Salazar, took to the National Palace, and which he later confirmed through his Twitter account: “… I expressed serious concerns about #EEUU … ”.

Minutes after this post by the US diplomat, the coordinator of the Morenoites in the Chamber of Deputies, Ignacio Mier, seemed to take away all the rush they had to put López Obrador’s energy counter-reform to a vote and spoke of April 2022 so that, according to him, this outrage is approved.

The reaction of the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador to the first clear, direct and specific reaction of the government of Joe Biden against this legislative attempt to overturn the energy reform sounded very linear and automatic.

There was also in the political environment yesterday another letter from an important group of US legislators in which they denounced the discriminatory actions that companies in their country suffer today in the energy sector.

A very well documented letter with enough political force so that it does not go unnoticed in the White House.

But no, it is not that US pressure that caused them to lower him in haste, rather than arrogance, around the attempt to pass the energy counter-reform.

Within this legislative group, made up of Morenoites, Petistas and Green Ecologists, internal claims are beginning to emerge.

And it is that that messianic style of climbing the mountain in the morning and descending with the tables of the presidential initiatives as if they were commandments seems to no longer reach among these parliamentary groups that have even been mistreated by a dominant group.

Everyone talks about how to bend the PRI to support this legislative aberration, but we must not lose sight of what Morena’s satellite groups want in Congress.

Along with the tweet of Ambassador Salazar, the coordinator of the Green Party in San Lázaro, Carlos Puente, said this: “We have a principle that leads us to analyze this initiative of the federal Executive and that is that we hold in the face of so many accusations and accusations that there are , that in the parliamentary group we will privilege that not a single step is taken back in renewable energies ”.

And if something affects and rejects López Obrador’s counter-reform, it is clean energy. So, by simple principle, even by name, that party should be the first to oppose it.

But more than a sudden ecological enlightenment of this group, there is a clear message that it is one thing to support the highest bidder, to support the 4T, and quite another to be at the service and mistreatment of the group in power.

The change in the governorship of Quintana Roo is coming, which has so much caressed the leadership of the Green Party and that could be a good reason to see the energy counter-reform with better eyes.

So, although the voice of concern and even opposition from the United States begins to be heard, for now the problems in the paradise of the 4T seem to be internal in the route of that counter-reform, which we must never lose sight of that is so harmful for the country.
