Serving California and West Coast favorites, this casual restaurant’s dishes include inspiration from Korea, Mexico, Thailand and the Middle East. Among the highlights of the menu, according to Mia, is the Bee Sting Pizza, with soppressata, spicy capicollo, red peppers and Mike’s Hot Honey. “The crust is thin and crispy, with some blackened bubbles,” she reports.

Billed as “elegant” and “formal,” this downtown Vancouver restaurant isn’t too fancy to have some pizzas on its menu. In fact, Mia points out that not one, but two, Ferraris of pizza ovens are at stake here. Acquafarina’s pizzas, according to Mia, are “rustic, sturdy and very well bubbled and charred.”

From the team behind beloved Vancouver restaurants Autostrada (Vancouver House and Main Street), this Yaletown restaurant serves fresh salads, pastas, and of course, pizzas. For fans who keep things simple and refreshing (think: a margarita, pepperoni, mushrooms, and the like), Mia says Capo pies are “sturdy enough to top without falling over” and have a “flavorful crust with a little bit of charcoal and a chewy crumb.”

Pizza Amalfi at the Sopra Sotto pizzeria.

Where: 1510 commercial unit, Vancouver

With fresh pastas and pizzas, this restaurant “hits all the high marks,” Mia reports. With double-zero flour or gluten-free pizza dough options, the “crust is almost Neapolitan but tougher and chewier.” The margherita, capricciosa and porchetta with broccoli rabe and mozzarella are said to be the best-selling dips.

The best spacca napoli pizza

Where: 2801 St. Johns Street, Port Moody

When The Vancouver Sun approached readers in 2018 for their favorite pizzerias, Spacca Napoli was very close to the top of the list. The popular Port Moody pizzeria serves pizza fresh from Naples, but better. “I’ve had Neapolitan pizza at ground zero (in Naples), but I have to say I liked the one at Spacca better,” Mia wrote. “The rustic rinds, well charred, chewy and great flavor.”
