What’s open, what’s closed on Christmas Day and St. Stephen’s Day in Montreal – Montreal | The Canadian News

Some facilities in Montreal will be closed during public holidays and the hours of some services may change on Saturday Christmas Day and Sunday of St. Stephen.

All retail businesses are operating at 50 percent capacity with physical distance, as part of the province’s latest COVID-19 restrictions.

Here’s a list of what to expect to plan ahead this holiday weekend.

City services:

City of Montreal offices and municipal offices will be closed, as counters allow, from December 24 to January 4, 2022, inclusive.

Most municipal courts will be closed from December 24 to 28 and from December 31 to January 4, 2022, inclusive.

The call center will be closed from December 24 to January 4, 2022, inclusive.

Requests for suspension of execution between December 22 and January 4, 2022, inclusive, will not be addressed. Only the cases of detainees will be processed in court during this period. For more details, call 514-872-2964.

Except for the following dates, 311 working hours remain unchanged:

  • From 8:30 a.m. M. At 5 p. M. On December 24 and 31.
  • From 9 to. M. At 5 p. M. From December 25 to 27 and January 1 and 2, 2022.

Public spaces

The eco-centers are closed from December 24 to January 3, 2022, inclusive. Due to current sanitary measures, the Rio Tinto Alcan Biodome, Biosphere, Botanical Garden and Planetarium are closed. Currently only the outdoor gardens of the Botanical Garden are open.

Solid waste collection

Household waste, bulky items, recyclables and food waste are collected in various places. Check the collection schedule.

The natural Christmas tree collection will take place in the 19 neighborhoods of the city in January.

Sports and Recreation

Depending on your municipality, the hours of sports and cultural facilities may vary. A limited number of activities will be offered.

The COVID-19 vaccine passport is required for all visitors 13 years of age and older who participate in any recreational activity offered.

Transport

Regular transportation schedules for paratransit users they are automatically canceled on legal holidays, except for dialysis treatments.

The Eaton Center, Alexis Nihon and Rockland and other malls will be open on Boxing Day from 10 am to 5 pm, but will be closed on Christmas Day.

Most SAQ branches will also be open on December 26, but will be closed on Christmas Day.
