To prove it, the Gaudí Theater has just premiered a small-format musical but great emotions, They, written and directed by Sílvia Sanfeliu for the display of the singer and actress Mònica Vives accompanied on the piano by Txema Riera to interpret the songs created by Josep M. Kabrota Ribaudí. It is a show of just over an hour that can be seen from Thursday to Sunday until December 12.
The piano is to the left of the stage with its essential scores and a glass of cocktail. Nearby, a sofa covered by a sheet, a suitcase and bags on the floor. On the right, an armchair next to a small table with a teapot, cups and a jug of flowers and a coat rack with the different pieces of clothing that the protagonist will use. Riera is the first to appear and musically introduces us to the work while Vives appears singing from the side.
An envelope with surprise
The opening number is a sad song about a woman who has been abandoned by her partner, after which, the singer explains the beginning of her story. It all started when he received a municipal envelope in the mail, thanks to which he discovered that he owned the rights to the family pantheon of his maternal family, the Cercavins. Curiosity led her to visit Càndida, a distant aunt who knew the most about her relatives.
Her first intention was to renounce this possession but the old woman convinces her to Learn about the lives of your ancestors first, then make a decision. This situation causes both women to stay every Thursday afternoon in the aunt’s late 19th century apartment and reveal the secrets of the women who preceded her, each with an exciting life behind her that will fascinate the actress. Vives unfolds into all those characters by adding only a characteristic wardrobe and a song.
