Days before elections are held in a country of Latin America I always ask (by email or WhatsApp) friends who live in the country in question to ask how they see the upcoming elections. Obviously I did the same in the case of the presidential elections in Colombia, both in the first and in the second round that was held on June 19. The responses of my friends, most ‘petrists’, they had in common disbelief at a victory for ‘their’ candidate.
