Western Central Pact for Tourism underpins the promotion of its airport points

For example, entities such as Jalisco and Guanajuato announced that they have expanded the capacity of their air routes through different agreements, in order to reach the European and South American markets.

In the first place, the Jalisco Tourism Secretariat stands out, which signed a collaboration agreement with different companies, such as Grupo Viajes, The English Court Y Aeromexico. The promotional campaign seeks to support the direct flight Guadalajara-Madrid, Spain, and thus, instead of having three flights a week, it will be daily.

“This agreement establishes cooperation actions to promote trips to the Mexican entity and establish the presence of the destination through content and spots on Spanish radio, placement of digital banners, post blogs and microsites on web pages, as well as promotional spots on 451 street television screens and shopping centers of the main branches of Viajes El Corte Inglés in Spain, Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Seville, among others”, deepened the state agency.

At the same time, Jalisco also made an agreement with Colombia in this Tourist Tianguis, for the launch of the new international route of long live aerobus Guadalajara-Bogotá.

This new route will begin operations on October 22, with two flights a week and with fares starting at $89 for a single trip.

For its part, Guanajuato signed collaboration agreements with representatives of Take off, BestdayCapital Bus CDMX, CONEXSTUR, Aeromexico, Expedia, Mexitours, Planet IFE+Volaris, VivaAerobus and PriceTravel.

“These firms meet the objective of marketing and disseminating the tourist offer of Guanajuato, based on segments of gastronomy, spirits, oenology, nature and adventure, culture, romance, sports, wellness and MICE, in various audiences, markets and audiences, and with This will strengthen the promotion strategy in specific markets”, deepened the Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato.

In this vein, the Marketing Director of the Guanajuato Tourism Secretariat, Jorge Cabrejos, explained that the aim is to increase the number of international flights, as well as promotion in other countries, because it is intended that foreign visitors can take the routes that they were presented in the Viaje en Corto campaign.

“We have the Central West Pact, we are there working with the states of Querétaro, Jalisco, Zacatecas, Guanajuato. We are always present. We are concentrating on promoting the alliance, transversal actions have been carried out, we have the presence of a campaign image. We look forward to the summer, the actions are linked to the campaigns by state and will always be linked to the Short Trip”, he specified.

He explained that one of the interests they have in attracting international tourists is that they can travel the wine and tequila routes, since this impacts different economic industries.

We have a specific presentation, where Querétaro presents all its wine issues and we (Guanajuato) are there, because in the end our vineyards are there on the border,” he added.

He stated that for the Guanajuato entity it is important to increase the attraction of international visitors, since currently 8% of the tourists who come to the entity come from other countries.

“Because 92% are national tourists, of which 51% are from Mexico City, this international 8% is distributed among Americans, Colombians, Spaniards, Canadians (…) That is why alliances are very important, we signed with Expedia for an international campaign for the United States, we also have an international campaign with Price Travel for the Colombian market”, he stressed.

The director of Tourism Promotion of Jalisco, Rocío Lancaster, recalled as part of the objective of reaching a larger international market, an investment of 15,000 million pesos is being made for the Guadalajara International Airport, the second runway of the terminal would be completed for the 2026.

For her part, the director of Public Relations and Promotion of the OFVC of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Fernanda Landa, explained that the entity and the region that make up the pact have greater growth opportunities with the US market, since the Guadalajara International Airport Guadalajara is the city with the highest number of direct flights to the United States.

We are connected to almost all the main cities of our northern neighbors,” he explained.

Fernanda Landa reported that as part of this strategy to consolidate the city at an international level, the projected number of appointments will be exceeded for the edition of this Tianguis Turístico.

“We had around 70 on the agenda (…) On the first day of appointments we had around 130 appointments (…) as a destination we are going to attend more than 300 appointments in this tianguis”, he reiterated.

Financing model

Ensuring that the regional alliance of the Central West Pact continues (which is made up of Jalisco, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí and Guanajuato), the director of Jalisco Tourism Promotion explained that in addition to generating a new promotion model that starts of the work already established, they will be focusing in this part of the year on generating a financing model for the six states.

“The pact continues, we are just seeing what the financing model is going to be, because we want to see if it is an investment lying down or invested in each of the states, then, in the next two weeks, this model remains to be defined,” he stressed. .

He indicated that within the framework of the Tourist Tianguis 2022, the states of the alliance held a meeting.

“We had a very productive meeting and we are going to be discussing what the next steps are going to be, the website is still active (…) We are still working and the most important thing right now is to see the issue of financing to continue this issue of actions promotion,” he added.

Beneficiaries

The director of the Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center, Magaly Fregoso Ortiz, explained that the regional airport plan is already benefiting the entity.

He pointed out that in order to complement this action, it is also making an alliance with Nayarit, where they seek to promote the branches of tourism for meetings and conventions.

“With the airport expansion for Jalisco, both for Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara, there will be a recovery in tourism terms. The region will become more competitive. The offer of flights that we have and will have for the destination is one of the attractions for large events, for large congresses or conventions. Lately we have more Europeans”, he indicated.

He revealed that for this year, as a venue, 29 events have been confirmed and they will represent an approximate spill of 600 million pesos. He said that this figure meant a recovery compared to 2021 and 2020, even, it is already close to what was registered in 2019, with 36 events.

“2019 was the best year of all, it generated an approximate spill of 860 million pesos, so we are not yet with a projection equal to 2019. We are having a jump from 250 million (in 2020 and 2021) to 600 million, It’s super big,” he added.
