We do not agree to accelerate the start of works by decree: CMIC

The president of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC), Francisco Solares, expressed his disagreement on the acceleration of the start of Infrastructure works by decree, since among the existing risks is the fact of improvising and falling into mistakes or errors that later will be costly to correct. In addition, he reiterated the need to continue promoting adequate planning.

“It is impossible to have in five days all the corresponding authorizations (environmental, legal, financial, among others) for a work as is being requested. Our position is to be in favor of a planning, if we had it, they would not have to do things like that, of occurrence or improvisation. We should have, with the required technical time, all the procedures to start works in the medium and long term ”, he commented.

At a press conference, the representative of the builders stressed that the agreement published this Monday in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), Where the agencies and entities of the Federal Public Administration are instructed to carry out the actions indicated, in relation to the projects and works of the Government of Mexico considered of public interest and national security, as well as priority and strategic for national development, It is not precise and it is necessary for the sector to have certainty.

The text may refer to the same Maya Trend or the Tulum airport, than to a road or a dam. He even stressed that it is necessary to know what the criteria are to say which works are strategic or priority.

For now, with his legal team they have begun the analysis of that document to proceed according to what is legally possible, since there are laws that cannot be violated. Subsequently, and formally, they will deliver their comment on the matter to the corresponding authorities.

“If we only attend as buildersWe could say: how good that we are going to do it quickly, but no. We are responsible because we represent a professional union. We see the implications that this has and that is why we do not agree that in this way the construction should be streamlined, “said Solares.
