War in Ukraine: Quebec releases an additional $700,000


Quebec is doubling down to help Ukrainians and will offer $700,000 to international cooperation organizations that have the capacity to intervene quickly to help on the ground.

This sum will be distributed by means of a call for projects to international cooperation organizations established here, but “having the capacity to intervene quickly and effectively in partnership with local organizations, in Ukraine or with displaced populations in the neighboring countries”.

It is in addition to some $300,000 granted on 1er march to two humanitarian organizations, Médecins du Monde Canada and the Red Cross, to support the Ukrainian population affected by the war.

In addition, the Ministry of Health and Social Services and its network will make medical equipment and supplies available to international cooperation organizations, in response to the needs expressed by the Ukrainian population.

In a press release, the Quebec Minister of International Relations, Nadine Girault, welcomed on behalf of the government “the movement of solidarity of Quebecers towards the Ukrainian people and wishes to offer the best possible welcome to the refugees who will arrive in Quebec in the coming weeks”. .

In this regard, Quebec invites those who wish to participate in the solidarity effort towards the Ukrainians who will arrive here to contact the Congress of Ukrainians of Canada. “The organization will then be able to redistribute material donations, housing or volunteer offers to people or organizations with needs,” the government said.

“With more than three million displaced people, Europe is experiencing a serious humanitarian crisis to which Quebecers are responding with generosity and compassion. Through this second financial aid, our government is increasing its support and reiterating its solidarity with the Ukrainian people,” explained Nadine Girault.

Ukrainian nationals will also be able to benefit from full coverage from the Quebec Health Insurance Plan (RAMQ) upon their arrival in the province. Thus, these people will have access to the services offered by the health and social services network.
