Walmart reduces paid leave for workers with covid

Walmart Inc workers in the United States who must isolate themselves or who have tested positive for Covid-19 will receive one week of paid leave instead of two under a new policy that aligns with a change in US Health Guidance.

A memo, seen by Reuters, sent to US hourly store clerks on Tuesday. And to long-distance drivers, he said that Covid-19 positive workers, and those who must be quarantined by Walmart, a healthcare provider or a government agency, are eligible for a workweek of paid time off.

The retailer, the largest private employer in the United States with roughly 1.6 million workers, is among the first major retailers to reduce Covid-19 paid leave and could serve as a benchmark for other major employers.
